Lend A Hand will be hosting its 4th annual fundraising event as a gala-style with the theme of “Vung Troi Ky Niem,” also known as “The Sky of Memories.” This elegant gala will be a night filled with many different performances from the Lend A Hand members. The performances were carefully selected this year to display all 3 different parts of Vietnam, student life, and songs from the legendary Trinh Cong Son.

Last year, we were able to provide 2 children with open heart surgeries but had to leave 8 behind due to inefficient fundings. Because of this very reason, all proceeds will be used toward our newest goal of providing infants with a second chance at life by sponsoring more open heart surgeries. Since inception, we have provided 1,000 scholarships to impoverished students, countless food supplies, and other humanitarian aids to rural areas all over South Vietnam.

This year has been a year filled with many different successes for our members including full scholarships to Harvard/Rice/UCLA, National Merit Scholars, VANG Golden Torch Student of the Year, full scholarships to become a doctor at Baylor College of Medicine after graduating high school, and we are at a stepping stone of achieving our ultimate goal: to lead a team of doctors and medical professionals back to Vietnam and provide medical care in impoverished areas. Ever since our creation in 2004 as high school students or 1st year college students, we will now officially have students entering medical school, pharmacy school, and optometry school. Thus we have a lot of reason to celebrate and I hope the Houston community will be able to join us in our celebration of hard work and dedication.
